The Terroir and its vines
The Domaine opted for Mercurey to choose a first terroir suitable to Chardonnay. In 2005, it acquired a 61 ares vine located at the top of "la Creuse”, a small area overlooking the Champs Martin Premiers Crus.
The vines are planted on white limestone marl soil suitable for Chardonnay. Facing east/north-east, it is harvested after the other plots of the domaine. The vines were planted in 1987.
The 2009 Vintage
A sunny year enabled us to bring in a very healthy, ripe harvest. The grapes were picked on 20 September.
The yield was 42 hectolitres per hectare.
The wines were fermented and matured entirely in oak barrels, with 40% new barrels. Production was 3,200 bottles.
Colour: golden yellow with a few hints of green.
Nose: hawthorn and acacia
Palate: lively and full-bodied, notes of quince, a slight woodiness that needs more time to become integrated.
